You can find more information about LPAs on the Government website.
The Alzheimer’s Society also has a ‘Lasting Power of Attorney Assistance Service’. You can call the charity on 0333 150 3456 and they will be able to help you.
This LPA Assistance service is for people affected by dementia without access to the internet, or who do not have the skills or confidence to complete the Lasting Power of Attorney forms online themselves.
When you call the helpline an advisor will explain what information is needed to complete the forms, then set up a telephone appointment with a trained volunteer who will complete the forms with you over the phone. The forms are then posted out to you for signing and the volunteer will call you again to support you with getting the LPA registered.
The service provided by the Alzheimer's Society is free, although there are fee(s) payable to the Office of the Public Guardian of £82 per LPA when the LPAs are registered, unless you qualify for a reduction or are exempt. The fees to the Office of the Public Guardian are discussed in the initial appointment booking.
The volunteers cannot provide legal advice on LPAs. If you require legal advice it’s better to contact a solicitor.
