No, you do not need to have a Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs to have a Sibstar card. You can apply with the person you are caring for if they still have capacity, and both you and the cardholder will be able to manage the app and spending.
If you are wanting to apply for a Sibstar card for someone who can no longer manage their day to day money, you will need to provide us with a registered Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs before you can open a Sibstar account on their behalf.
If you would like help with getting a Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs you can find more information on the Government website.
Note: we can also accept registered an EPA document [Enduring Power of Attorney].
Or you can call the Alzheimer’s Society on 0333 150 3456. Let them know you need help with an LPA and someone will offer support.
