Signing up to Sibstar should take 20 to 30 mins; here is a step by step guide.
First, download the Sibstar app to your mobile device. You can do this from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

If you are supporting someone who already has a Lasting Power of Attorney or other relevant legal documentation. Select 'Option 2' in the app
You'll need the following documents:
The Supporter [that's you, you're the person helping the Cardholder] will need:
- Proof of ID: A passport or driving licence is ideal*
- Proof of address: A bank statement or utility bill dated in the last 3 months
For the Cardholder [that’s the person you are caring for and whose name will appear on the Sibstar debit card] you'll need:
- Proof of ID: A passport or driving licence is ideal*
- Proof of address: A bank statement or utility bill dated in the last 3 months
- Their Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs
*If either of you do not have a valid passport or driving licence, no problem! We can accept alternative documents. Otherwise, just give our team a call on 01962 676 080 or drop us a message and we can help you.
Tip: If you're signing up for someone else, it’s easiest and quickest if you do this with the person you are caring for as you will need their documents and a selfie of them.
- In the app, enter your [the Supporter's] email address, phone number and full name of the person you are supporting. Click Submit
- Once you have submitted those details, we will email you with a secure link. Use this link to send us the LPA.
- Next log back into the Sibstar app. This time: click, 'Create an account,' Select 'Option 2', click Next.
- Tick the box next to the text which says: My LPA has been verified by Sibstar. [Please do not re-enter your email/phone details at this stage.] Click: Next.
- Enter the email address of the Supporter (that’s you)
- Click the box to confirm you have read the T&Cs and Privacy Policy. Click: Accept.
- An ‘Activation code’ will be sent to your email address. Click: Next.
- Check your email inbox, you will have received a 4 digit ‘activation code’.
- Enter this into the screen on your app. Click: Next.
- Success! Your email address will now be confirmed.
- Click: Create password.
- Create your password [it will require a mix of capital and lower case letters, numbers and special characters] on the following screen. Click: Next.
- Create a 4-digit passcode. This will be confirmed. You can add ‘Easy log in' at this stage too.
- Enter your personal details, as the Supporter. Click: Next.
- When you see a summary page, double check you have entered everything correctly. Click: Confirm.
It's now time to provide further details about the cardholder, the person you are supporting.
- Enter the email address of the person you are supporting, i.e. the Cardholder. We just need this information to set up the account, thats all, no future communication will be sent to this email address.
- Check the email inbox of the Cardholder, they will have received a 4 digit ‘activation code'.
- Enter this into the screen on your app. Click: Next.
- Success! Their email address will now also be confirmed.
- Enter the personal details of the Cardholder. Click: Next.
- When you see a summary page, double check you have entered everything correctly. Click: Confirm.
- You will be taken to the home screen. Click: Log in.
- Log in as you, the Supporter. I.e. use the Supporter email address and the new password you set up.
We now need to check you are who you say you are. So, get ready with your documents!
- Supporter ID checks. Select Passport, Driving Licence or Other.
- Now follow the instructions in the app.
- Once completed you will see a screen which says ‘We are checking your details’. This means we are checking the documents you have sent us. Click: Next. You will now be taken back to the login screen.
Once we have done our checks, you will be able log back in, again using your [the Supporter's] email address and password, and this time upload the ID documents for the Cardholder.
- Log in as the Supporter again.
- Cardholder identity checks. Select Passport, Driving Licence or Other.
- Follow the instructions in the app.
- When finished, you will see a screen which says: 'Thank you. We have received your documents and will be in touch'.
We are now busy setting up your Sibstar account. We’ll send an email to you, the Supporter, once the account set up is complete, and then post the debit card to you (not the cardholder). So, keep an eye on your email inbox.
Select 'Option 1' in the app if:
- you are supporting someone else WITHOUT a Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Finance OR
- you would like Sibstar for yourself but need a little help from a trusted Supporter
Be ready with the following documents:
Tip: It's easiest and quickest if you do go through the sign up process together as you will both need to provide ID documents and a selfie.

- Create a password [it will require a mix of capital and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters] on the following screen. Click: Next.
- Create a 4-digit app passcode. This will be confirmed. You can add ‘Easy log in' at this stage too.
Now it's time to enter some further details about the Cardholder.
- Enter the personal details of the Cardholder. Click: Next.
- When you see a summary page, double check you have entered everything correctly. Click: Confirm.
You'll now be asked for details about the Supporter.
- Enter the email address of the Supporter
- An ‘Activation code’ will be sent to this email address. Click: Next.
- Check the email inbox, you will have received a 4 digit ‘activation code’.
- Enter this into the screen on your app. Click: Next.
- Success! Your email address will now be confirmed.
- Enter your personal details, as the Supporter. Click: Next.
- When you see a summary page, double check you have entered everything correctly. Click: Confirm.
We now need to check you are who you say you are. So, get ready with your documents! First up is the check for the Cardholder.
- Cardholder identity checks. Select Passport, Driving Licence or Other.
- Follow the instructions in the app.
- When finished, you will see a screen which says: 'Thank you. We have received your documents and will be in touch'.
The Supporter now needs to log in to the app using the one-time password that has been sent by email to the Cardholder. Please make sure you enter the Supporter's email address at this stage.
- The Supporter will now be asked to create a password [it will require a mix of capital and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters] on the following screen. Click: Next.
- The Supporter will now need to login again using their new password.
- Supporter ID checks. Select Passport, Driving Licence or Other.
- Now follow the instructions in the app.
- Once completed you will see a screen which says ‘We are checking your details’. This means we are checking the documents you have sent us. Click: Next. You will now be taken back to the login screen.
Once we have done our checks, you will be able to log back in using either the Cardholder's or Supporter's email address and password. We are now busy setting up your Sibstar account. We’ll send an email once the account set up is complete, and then post the debit card to the Cardholder. So, keep an eye on your email inbox for notification that it's on its way.
If you are opening Sibstar just for yourself (no Supporter needed). Select option 3 in the app
